Curiosity. I suppose I just tend to use ifconfig to check I’m connected, and to what. I told you I was geekier than you. Pinging might occasionally be useful though.

And as for killing putty once you get into fullscreen mode, doesn’t a simple press of the red button get rid of it? It does on mine.

What I miss is a way of checking what IP address the phone’s been assigned, also the ability to ping other devices. Perhaps I should have got an android phone myself, I think I may be a bit geekier than you.

You can tap the three little horizontal lines on the keypad and choose ‘insert symbol’. It’s there.
